Leapmotor only arrived in Europe recently, yet it is already making an impact. It is now the fourth best-selling Chinese brand despite having just three models. The company registered more than 33,000 units in 2025 and, in the first two months of 2026, it had already registered over 12,000 vehicles - a 642% increase on the same period last year. Leapmotor has no intention of stopping there.
Its partnership with Stellantis is expected to speed up that expansion. It benefits from privileged access to the group's extensive sales network and will soon begin manufacturing on European soil at one of its factories. This is the most effective way to sidestep the substantial European Union tariffs on electric vehicles made in China: 20.7% for the brand, on top of the existing 10%. What many Chinese marques are still seeking, Leapmotor already possesses.
Leapmotor plans three new electric models
To sustain its rapid growth, Leapmotor has confirmed three new arrivals by the end of 2026, doubling its current range. All will be fully electric, although the brand has not ruled out introducing EREV variants - electric vehicles with a range extender - at a later stage, as is already the case with the B10 and the larger C10.
Three new models to support growth
The first to arrive, from the second quarter, will be the Leapmotor B05. It is not an SUV, but a car with dynamic styling aimed at the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Megane segment, alongside the new Kia EV4.
It uses the same Leap 3.5 platform as the B10 SUV and is expected to share its 160 kW (218 hp) rear motor and battery options. However, its more favourable aerodynamics should enable it to exceed the SUV's 434 km combined WLTP range.
Leapmotor B03X targets the competitive B-SUV class
The Leapmotor B03X is scheduled to debut in the third quarter, entering the most competitive area of the European market: B-SUVs. This is the segment occupied by models such as the Peugeot E-2008 and new Kia EV2, and where potential new leaders including the Volkswagen ID. Cross and Skoda Epiq are arriving this year.
European specifications have not yet been confirmed, but they are unlikely to differ from those in China, where the B03X - called the A10 there - is about to launch. It offers either a 70 kW (95 hp) or 90 kW (122 hp) electric motor, plus two battery packs rated at 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh. Its claimed maximum range reaches 505 km… on the Chinese CLTC cycle. It also stands out for its technology, including advanced driver-assistance systems, an artificial intelligence-based cockpit and over-the-air updates.
Finally, the Leapmotor B03 will launch during the final quarter of the year. This car will sit between the city-focused T03 and the family-oriented B05. It will face no shortage of rivals, from the Renault 5 to the forthcoming Volkswagen ID. Polo. Of Leapmotor's three promised European launches for 2026, this is the one about which least is known, although every indication suggests it will share the B03X's technical basis, motor and batteries.
Leapmotor intends to use this trio of new models to make the most of the sales peak seen at the beginning of 2026 and expand much further in Europe. It remains to be seen how far it can go. One seemingly certain outcome is the positive effect Leapmotor's electric success could have on Stellantis's CO₂ emissions figures.
Leapmotor wants to build on 2026's momentum and its three new models to grow much more in Europe. The question is how far it can progress. Along the way, there is another side effect: helping Stellantis meet its emissions targets.
