Following the updates introduced for the Mokka, Frontera and Grandland Electric, it is now the Opel Astra’s turn to receive revisions for 2026. The updated German brand family car can already be ordered in Portugal, with prices starting at €30,990.

This revision brings the Astra closer to the rest of the range in both styling and technology. As well as the newly illuminated central badge, the Astra’s front end has been completely reworked, gaining a narrower, more technical Opel Vizor inspired by the concept car seen on the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo.

Opel Astra styling, cabin and load space

Inside, the layout remains largely unchanged. Higher-spec versions of the Astra feature a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, paired with a 10-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.

One of the key additions is the fitment of Intelli-Seats as standard across every version. Their bicycle-saddle-inspired central recess is designed to ease pressure around the coccyx area and improve comfort on longer journeys.

In terms of carrying capacity, the hatchback provides up to 1339 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded, while the Sports Tourer estate can accommodate up to 1643 litres.

Electric model with greater range

The revised 2026 Opel Astra Electric now uses a 58 kWh battery, replacing the previous 54 kWh unit. Maximum WLTP range rises to 454 km, an increase of 35 km over the former version. Output from the electric motor remains unchanged at 115 kW (156 hp).

The electric version also gains Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing external devices - including electric bicycles and other equipment - to be powered directly by the car’s battery.

Opel Astra powertrain range

Buyers who favour more conventional powertrains can still choose from a broad line-up: a petrol mild hybrid producing 107 kW (145 hp), a plug-in hybrid with 144 kW (195 hp) and up to 87 km of combined electric range, plus a 1.5-litre Diesel version rated at 96 kW (130 hp).

The new Opel Astra is available in Edition, the entry-level trim, and GS, the range-topping specification. The Astra Sports Tourer GS estate, meanwhile, can only be configured with either the plug-in hybrid system or the fully electric powertrain.

What are the starting prices?

The Opel Astra is offered in Portugal from €30,990, while the Sports Tourer estate starts at €32,090. Prices for the full range are as follows:
