Officially unveiled in September, the new all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC is now available to order in Portugal, with prices starting from €78,000.

Mercedes-Benz GLC electric design and dimensions

Although it closely resembles the combustion-powered GLC, the new SUV has distinctive features of its own, including its vast front grille. Inspired by the past, it now serves a purely decorative purpose and can also be illuminated.

Compared with the combustion-powered GLC, the electric GLC provides an extra 4.7 cm of second-row legroom. It is also 13 cm longer (4.85 m), 2.3 cm wider (1.91 m), half a centimetre taller (1.64 m) and has an 8.4 cm longer wheelbase (2.97 m).

Interior displays

Inside, the main highlight is the optional 39.1-inch (99.3 cm) Hyperscreen, the largest display ever fitted to a Mercedes-Benz model.

As standard, the all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC comes with three separate screens: one for the instruments, another for the infotainment system and a third for the front passenger.

Up to 707 km of range

Built on a new 800 V electric platform (MB.EA), the GLC introduces a new generation of motors and batteries, technology it shares with the new CLA.

The launch version, the GLC 400 4MATIC, features two electric motors, one on each axle, delivering a combined output of 360 kW (489 hp).

Performance is equally impressive: 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.3 seconds, while top speed is 210 km/h. Its battery, with 94 kWh of usable capacity, delivers a combined range of up to 707 km (WLTP), with combined WLTP consumption of 16 kWh/100 km.

Charging performance is similarly strong. Using direct current (DC), it can regain up to 303 km of range in just 10 minutes, or charge from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes under ideal conditions.

A further four electric powertrains will be introduced, with the first two arriving on the market at the end of next year.

How much does it cost?

As noted above, the all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC has now arrived in Portugal and is on sale from €78,000.
