Suzuki Jimny Sierra Saudade Takes on Renault 5 Style

Green compact off-road SUV with black roof and trim, displayed indoors against white walls and shiny floor.

We are beginning to think the Suzuki Jimny has an identity problem. We have already seen it transformed into a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a Defender and even a Lancia Delta Integrale. Now, it apparently wants to “be” French too.

Suzuki Jimny Sierra Saudade with Renault 5 styling

Thanks to Japanese tuning company DAMD, this is the most unusual Suzuki Jimny we have encountered so far. That is not only because of its Renault 5-inspired front end, but also its name: Jimny Sierra Saudade. Do the Japanese know what “saudade” means?

The styling kit features a front section with square headlamps in the style of the original Renault 5, a black grille and a bumper fitted with an underbody protection plate. OZ Racing wheels and a roof rack complete the more adventurous look.

Availability and Suzuki Jimny Sierra specifications

For anyone interested in buying one, the bad news is that the Jimny Sierra Saudade is available only in Japan. Prices start at €2,235, excluding paint, or €3,300 with the OZ Racing wheel set.

The engine, however, is unchanged. The Suzuki Jimny Sierra uses the same specifications as the Jimny sold here: a 1.5-litre unit producing 102 hp. Japan also gets a kei car version of the Jimny, with narrower tracks and a turbocharged 658 cm³ engine developing 64 hp.
