Changan Deepal S05 AWD arrives in Portugal from €42,990

Changan has expanded the Deepal S05 range in the Portuguese market with the all-wheel-drive AWD variant. Taking its place at the top of the electric SUV line-up, it arrives in Portugal from €42,990.

While the rear-wheel-drive RWD model, with 268 kW (364 hp), had already put the Deepal S05 on Portuguese buyers’ radar, the AWD version adds a second electric motor on the front axle along with substantially more power.

The claimed combined output of 435 kW (591 hp) represents a major increase of more than 200 hp over the rear-wheel-drive version. Torque has also risen sharply, from 290 Nm to 502 Nm. The performance improvement is clear: the standard 0–100 km/h sprint now takes 5.5 seconds, exactly two seconds less than in the single-motor model.

More capability in demanding conditions

Changan also highlights the increase in the maximum gradient the AWD SUV can tackle, rising from 30% to 40%. The brand further emphasises its greater versatility on more challenging surfaces and in adverse weather conditions.

Intelligent all-wheel drive with three modes

Another key development is the traction management system. Changan’s AWD set-up is “proactive”, adapting to the driving situation and providing three distinct operating modes:

• Eco/Comfort: Prioritises the rear motor to conserve energy, bringing in the front axle only when grip is lost or the accelerator is pressed hard.
• Sport: Keeps all-wheel drive permanently engaged, with torque split 50:50.
• Snow: A mode exclusive to this version, which adjusts torque delivery to be smoother and prevents the wheels from slipping on icy or snowy surfaces.

Pricing and availability in Portugal

The Changan Deepal S05 AWD is already available in Portugal, with prices starting at €42,990 (€34,950 + VAT for businesses). The RWD version is the more affordable option, with an entry price of €36,990 (€30,073 + VAT for businesses).

The general warranty lasts seven years or 160,000 kilometres, while the traction battery is covered for eight years or 200,000 kilometres, with a minimum state of health of 70%.
