Toyota unveiled the bZ7 at the Shanghai Motor Show, a new all-electric saloon positioned as the brand’s flagship model for the Chinese market. Developed in China specifically for China, it highlights Toyota’s commitment to the world’s largest car market and to electrification.
The Toyota bZ7 expands the Japanese manufacturer’s electric-car push in China, where its line-up already includes the bZ4X, bZ3, bZ3X and bZ5. Of those models, only the bZ4X is sold in Europe; the others are available solely in China.
Like the bZ3X, the bZ7 has been developed through Toyota’s partnership with GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group). “The new model will combine the strengths of each company - Toyota’s quality with China’s advanced technology.”
Huawei has also contributed to the development of the Toyota bZ7, which becomes the first Toyota-GAC model to use the Chinese technology giant’s HarmonyOS operating system.
What do we know about the Toyota bZ7?
While Toyota has yet to publish the final specifications, this all-electric saloon is known to measure more than five metres in length, making it longer than a Camry, for instance.
Its 21-inch alloy wheels and exterior styling reinforce the bZ range’s visual identity. Highlights include C-shaped LED headlamps, an increasingly recognisable Toyota signature, while the overall profile is sleek and elegant.
Inside, Toyota has focused on a more refined finish. White leather seats are matched with the steering wheel, while wood trim features on the doors and centre console. The large central display draws immediate attention, but it is the more upmarket materials and finishes that set the bZ7 above the other models in the bZ line-up.
When will the Toyota bZ7 arrive?
The Toyota bZ7 is expected to launch in China closer to the end of the year and, as we have reiterated, it will be exclusive to the Chinese market.
