Unveiled late last year, the Porsche Cayenne Electric arrived in two versions positioned at opposite ends of the range.

At one end sits the entry-level Cayenne, producing 325 kW (442 hp); at the other is the Cayenne Turbo Electric, with a remarkable claimed 850 kW (1156 hp). That output has even earned it the title of the most powerful road-going Porsche ever.

However, as the saying goes, “virtue lies in the middle”, and Porsche has now revealed precisely that in the form of the Cayenne S Electric.

The “S” badge brings a substantial increase in output over the entry-level version. Combined power reaches 400 kW (544 hp), rising to 490 kW (666 hp) with launch control, thanks to the combined work of two electric motors, one on each axle.

The battery powering them retains exactly the same 113 kWh gross capacity, delivering a claimed range of up to 653 km on the combined WLTP cycle.

What sets the Cayenne S apart from the others?

There are visual changes too, although they are more restrained. On the outside, the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric is distinguished by bespoke front and rear bumpers, along with a diffuser finished in the body colour.

It also comes with newly designed 20-inch wheels, paired with red-painted brake callipers. As options, the Cayenne S Electric can be specified with carbon-ceramic brake discs, featuring yellow callipers, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and Porsche Active Ride suspension. This system can virtually compensate for all body movements.

Interior space and technology

Inside, the differences are almost non-existent, while the extensive range of personalisation options remains available. The new mid-range electric SUV version also provides the same amount of space and the same 781 litres of boot capacity, supplemented by a 90-litre frunk.

The Porsche Cayenne S Electric uses the same 14.25-inch curved instrument panel as the other versions, which can optionally be paired with an augmented-reality head-up display.

Cayenne S now available to order

The new Porsche Cayenne S Electric is already available to order in its home market, with prices starting from 132 315 euros. Here is how the range is structured:
