So far, the only version of the new, previously unseen electric Mercedes-Benz GLC we have seen has featured the MBUX Hyperscreen: a vast display spanning the full width of the cabin and measuring an immense 39.1 inches.
It certainly makes an impact, but the MBUX Hyperscreen is not included as standard on the new GLC. That naturally raised the question of what equipment comes as standard instead. The answer arrived promptly: see the image below.
Electric Mercedes-Benz GLC: standard displays
As shown, the standard specification includes three screens, all positioned beneath one continuous glass surface: a 10.3-inch instrument display, a 14-inch central touchscreen for infotainment, and another 14-inch unit in front of the passenger.
The latter is… unusual, as it does not react to touch. Mercedes-Benz refers to it as a “digital animated panel”, and it is intended solely as decoration.
To make use of this screen - which does, after all, offer a generous 14-inch diagonal - buyers must turn to the options list and select the MBUX Superscreen. Will it only be offered through a subscription? The display then becomes touch-sensitive, allowing the front passenger to interact with it.
MBUX Superscreen and MBUX Hyperscreen options
Naturally, anyone wanting the complete immersive experience will need to go one step further and choose the MBUX Hyperscreen (above), which combines the three displays into a single unit. Will we see any GLCs leave the dealership with the “digital animated panel”?
