The Volkswagen T-Cross enters 2024 with significant revisions. Introduced in 2019, the brand’s third best-selling model is now midway through its lifecycle, making this the right time for the customary facelift.

At the front, it gains fresh LED headlights and a revised light signature, which can include a slim LED strip running across the grille. The rear light clusters have new inner elements, while new bumpers also feature. New shades have been added to the colour palette, too.

The 2024 Volkswagen T-Cross arguably makes its strongest case inside. As well as new materials, the dashboard has been fitted with updated displays for the instrument panel (Digital Cockpit) and infotainment system, the latter available in sizes from 8" to 10". The climate-control functions have not been moved into the infotainment screen, although they now use new touch-sensitive controls.

During my brief drive of the 2024 T-Cross, it retained the qualities already associated with it: room for (almost) everything, a comfortable ride and suitably capable handling.

That said, the biggest changes are apparent in the cabin, beginning with the materials, which look and feel more pleasing. The new 8" central display delivers better image quality and responds more quickly. The infotainment system remains as straightforward to operate as before.

Range for Portugal

The T-Cross still has not gained an electrified option. Its line-up therefore continues to consist solely of two ‘pure’ combustion-engine choices, spread across four trim levels - T-Cross, Urban, Style and R-Line:

  • 1.0 TSI, 95 PS, five-speed manual gearbox;
  • 1.0 TSI, 115 PS, six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) gearbox.

The updated T-Cross comes as standard with LED headlights, Digital Cockpit and an 8” infotainment display. Standard equipment also covers USB-C ports, rear parking sensors and traffic-sign recognition.

The Urban trim, available for an additional 2472 euros, adds 17” Bangalore alloy wheels, logo projectors in the exterior door-mirror housings, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Both Style and R-Line sit at the top of the range. They are differentiated by their more elegant and sportier appearances respectively, and are available exclusively with the 1.0 TSI 115 PS engine and seven-speed DSG gearbox.

Prices

The updated 2024 Volkswagen T-Cross has already arrived in Portugal, and the national range is priced as follows:
