Hyundai has confirmed the main highlights of its presence at the Brussels Motor Show, running from 9 to 18 January. The headline act will be a new fully electric model, officially described as the largest electric vehicle ever added to the South Korean brand’s portfolio.
According to the statement issued by Hyundai Motor Europe, the newcomer will expand the existing electric line-up, which currently ranges from the compact INSTER to the enormous IONIQ 9.
Hyundai’s new electric model at the Brussels Motor Show
For now, Hyundai has not disclosed its name, body style or even its precise place within the range hierarchy. However, the released teaser has prompted speculation that it could be the electric version of the huge Staria, a large MPV we have already driven.
Such a vehicle already exists in van form rather than as an MPV: based on the Staria, it is sold in Europe as the IVECO eMoovy through the partnership between Hyundai and IVECO.
800 V electrical architecture
Final confirmation will have to wait until the Brussels Motor Show opens, but Hyundai has already stated that the model will use an 800 V electrical architecture, a solution that enables rapid charging and greater energy efficiency.
IONIQ 6 makes its European debut
Alongside this world premiere, Hyundai will present its updated IONIQ 6 in Europe for the first time, with enhancements to its aerodynamics, interior and digital systems.
According to the company, this refresh is focused largely on energy efficiency and the in-car experience. For more high-adrenaline experiences, however, there will be an area dedicated to the N division, featuring the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N.
A more conceptual space inspired by the INSTEROID is also planned. This design study is based on the INSTER and was seen in person at the IAA, the Munich Motor Show.
