BYD has unveiled the Denza Z at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This electric supercar is due to enter production shortly and is also expected to reach the European market. It will be sold under Denza, a brand positioned above BYD, with an ambition still unusual among Chinese manufacturers: to establish a distinct family of high-performance sports cars.
The Denza Z will be offered as a Coupé, Spider and Racing, alongside a Special Edition developed specifically for the Nürburgring. Every version will be fully electric.
The formula itself is far from new: one base car, several interpretations and a handful of special editions. Think of it as a Chinese Porsche 911, but electric and with almost 2000 hp. Even the least powerful version produces 1582 hp.
The days when the 1001 hp of the Bugatti Veyron seemed astonishing feel increasingly remote.

Almost 2000 hp and three motors
Built on BYD’s e3 platform, the Denza Z has three electric motors: one driving the front axle and two at the rear. This layout provides four-wheel drive and active torque vectoring. Denza quotes 1582 hp and 1240 Nm for the Coupé, Spider and Racing versions.
The Coupé completes 0-100 km/h in 2.25 seconds and has a 300 km/h top speed. Fitted with semi-slick tyres, the Racing cuts the sprint to 1.96 seconds and reaches 350 km/h. The Special Edition goes further, exceeding 1971 hp and claiming a 0-100 km/h time of under 1.7 seconds.

The Racing version gains cooling ducts for the motors and brakes, as well as a carbon-fibre wing adjustable through three settings. Denza claims up to 1060 kg of downforce at 350 km/h. With its active front diffuser and adjustable rear wing, the Special Edition exceeds 2000 kg at 300 km/h.

The DiSus-M suspension combines double wishbones at the front, a multi-link rear axle and magnetorheological dampers. The Coupé and Spider use air suspension, while the Racing adopts coil springs. All models are fitted with drilled carbon-ceramic brakes, using six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers.

Charging in nine minutes
For its battery pack, the Denza Z uses BYD’s second-generation Blade cells. Total capacity will be 76 kWh. The stated range is between 380 km and 410 km, according to the version.
Denza says the Z can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, at a maximum power of up to 1500 kW. In Europe, those figures will depend on the available charging infrastructure.
In the United Kingdom, Denza Z order books will open at the end of the summer, alongside the opening of the brand’s first dealerships, with first deliveries scheduled for late 2026. Prices start at £142 900 (around €167 600 at the current exchange rate) for the Z Coupé, rise to £159 900 (around €187 500) for the Z Spider, and reach £172 900 (around €202 800) for the Z Racing.
For the rest of Europe, Denza has not yet announced prices or a launch timetable, nor has it confirmed which versions will be available in each country. The brand still has no official representation in Portugal.
